Reports surfaced Saturday night that Tether and their auditor, Friedman LLP, had dissolved their relationship. Because of the weekend, independent confirmation hasn't been received. Calls to Friedman LLP have gone to the voicemail.

Nigeria’s SureRemit raises ₦2.5 bln ($7m) via ICO

Nigeria-based non-cash remittance platform SureRemit has raised ₦2.5 bln (US$7 million) via an innitial coin offering (ICO) to roll out its digital voucher system that makes payments easier and cheaper.
BuyAltCoinsNigeria reported at the end of this past year SureRemit had launched the ICO in a bid to boost funds for a blockchain-based remittance service.

BitConnect has shut down its lending and exchange operations (Another MMM Ponzi running on blockchain?)

Controversial cryptocurrency trading platform BitConnect announced Tuesday that it would cease operation of its lending and exchange programs after a number of complaints have been levied against the company.

In a statement published on the company’s website, BitConnect announced “changes coming” for its system, including the “halt of lending and exchange platform.” Going forward, BitConnect will serve as a “wallet service” as well as offer “news and educational purposes.”
